Welcome to Gaspen Builders & Carpenters, where we blend generations of craftsmanship with modern innovation to bring your home to life. With our roots stretching back over 50 years, we stand proud as a third-generation family building company. The story of Gaspen began with George Spencer, who started his career as a painter, and was inspired by painting the Victoria Park Hotel in South Townsville while waiting for immobilisation back to Adelaide after WW2. His son Tony, joined the fold in the 1960, and it was through his inspiration that led them to branch out into building and carpentry and securing our family’s future in the industry.

Our name, Gaspen, is a tribute to the lineage of expertise passed down from George and Anthony Spencer. With Tony's building licence acquired in 1977, Gaspen Pty Ltd officially cemented its reputation for excellence. It was the echoes of machinery and the scent of timber from the backyard shed that marked Shaun's childhood, our third-generation owner. It was this early exposure that shaped his aspirations to join and eventually steer the family business and inspired him to embark on his own carpentry journey in 1986. It was in 1996 that Gaspen Pty Ltd became established in North Queensland and in 2010 Shaun took the reins.
